Re: [linux-team] Portables Linux/Windows

The most non-propietary and x86 standard Laptops I've seen on the market are
the non-big-brand ones. And prices are cheaper, more feature rich (you can
change "modules"; for instance, replace the floppy with an LS-120, or Zip
drive, a second battery or another HD; replace CD-Rom with a DVD. So, if
someday one piece is damaged, you just have to buy a new module (usualy for
150US$) and you are on the road)
As you live in Belgium, I don't know if you have to pay taxes if you buy it
in the US (to import it). If so, can someone please tell me how much it
would be?

In the UK you have other options:

Last year I bought, for my own, three of these laptops. I had no problem
installing linux.
Maybe there are some distributors here in Belgium, but I don't know the
options here.

Another hint: In the UK they charge you the VAT (a tax) when you buy it; in
the US you don't pay any taxes when buying online.
Hope you find what you are looking for.
