ftp://ykbsb2.yk.psu.edu/pub/alien/alien-extra.info
une sorte de mini manuel de alien et rpm :
voici les extraits interessant :
To convert a rpm to a tgz or deb enter:
alien --to-tgz filename.rpm (or alien -t filename.rpm)
alien --to-deb filename.rpm (or alien -d filename.rpm)
Here is some other info related to Red Hat and Debian:
------------------------------------------------------
rpm -qip filename.rpm
will give you some basic info about the package
rpm -qilp filename.rpm
will, in addition to the above, also list all the files in it
rpm -ivh --test filename.rpm
will do a "test" installation. No files installed; simply
checks if there are any clashes. Very nice feature!
rpm -ivh filename.rpm
Actually does the install
To unpack a rpm (say in dir temp) enter:
rpm2cpio filename.rpm | cpio -iv --make-directories
To unpack a deb (say in dir temp) enter:
ar vx filename.deb
To unpack a slp (say in dir temp) enter:
tar Ixvf filename.slp
Here you will need a GNU tar that supports the I option. Doing
tar --help should show under
Archive format selection:
-I, --bzip2, --bunzip2 filter the archive through bzip2
