Re: [linux-team] Melissa

Bonjour,

Dear user,

We have been informed about two computer viruses that are likely
to affect the VUB/ULB user community.

The first one is the "Happy 99" virus also known as "Trojan.Happy99"
and "I-Worm.Happy" which is spreading as an e-mail attachment to
other computers running a Microsoft Windows operating system.

The second one is a so-called macro-virus, identified as the
"Melissa macro" or "W97M_Melissa virus" which is reported to
affect machines with Microsoft Word 97 or Word 2000. This virus
propagates by sending itself as an Word attachment.

As a result, and this is valid in most cases, when you receive an
email with an attachment, be cautious. While the email itself will
not harm your computer, running or opening the attachment will harm
your computer if the attachment contains the/any "virus".

To remove a possible virus, you can simply delete the message
in question, or install a recent anti-virus program.

More details can be found on the Computing Centre's Website:

Bonjour,

Merci
