[linux-team] News from the Open ISP Project.
It's been a long time since my last e-mail to the list. Some of you already
know what is the Project about, some still don't.
The main purpose of the Open ISP project is to provide free-phone-costs
Internet access for, and only to, Linux users. To reach this goal, we must
develop service strategies to help finance the project, as well as get
economical and/or hardware support from Linux-related companies and, maybe,
the government itself.
This is a non-for-profit project, and to this end an A.S.B.L. should be set
up to help companies fund the project.
The project has now it's own web page, at http://open-isp.linuxbe.org,
hosting kindly donated by Pascal Bleser. There is also a mailing-list.
I've published two articles in the LinuxGazette, for the June and July's
issues. In these articles I outline the reasons behind the project, the
benefits it could bring to our Linux community, and the latest news about
it.
The project is to be developed here in Belgium, with the help, enthusiasm
and work of Belgian Linux users.
Please, take your time to read the articles, participate in the mailing list
and help this project come true.
For those that already know about the project there are some breaking news.
Last month I was invited to Seoul, Korea, to participate in Global Linux
2000 and present the project to investors. The event was a success, so we
have now some sponsors, willing to donate hardware to the project. The full
details of this news, as well as a new revolutionary service ideas developed
during GL2000, are described in the second article.
You can read the articles at:

This is a very interesting and important project for the Linux Community,
specially the Belgian community.
We have the potential to bring the project to reality, we just need to
coordinate our ideas, efforts and enthusiasm.
Sincerely yours,
Carlos Betancourt
