The purpose of Recommendation G.703 is to give the interface 
specifications necessary to enable the interconnection of digital 
network components (digital sections, multiplex equipments, exchanges) 
to for an international digital link.

Recommendation G.703 sets out the principles applicable to the 
interfaces at 64, 1 544, 6 312, 8 448, 32 604, 34 368, 97 728, 139, 
264 and 155 520 kbit/s as well as to the 2 048 kHz synchronisation 
interface.
