Subject: Maximum Burst Size Rounding Definition
PROBLEM
The current SCSI-2 Specification (Rev. 10) section 7.3.3.2
Disconnect-Reconnect Page page 7-82 second to the last
paragraph reads 'This value may be rounded as defined in
6.5.4.'. Section 6.5.4 states that if you round a parameter
you must issue a check condition status.
In the case of the Maximum Burst Size parameter what is being
rounded is not the parameter but the result of the
multiplication. The multiplication is gives a result which
may or may not fall on a boundary the device considers valid
and therefore may round the multiplication result.
I do not think this rounding should result in a check
condition as the original parameter passed is not modified.
PROPOSAL
The wording 'This value may be rounded as defined in 6.5.4.'
should be changed to 'This value may be rounded to the
nearest valid boundary condition.'
