The CAM Committee hs been granted a copy license on the proviso that the names of those on distribution will be supplied upon request. BE AWARE OF THIS CRITERION IF YOU DISTRIBUTE THIS MAILING INTERNALLY. ADDITIONAL COPIES MAY BE MADE IF YOU ADVISE IOMEGA. Additional material was supplied by Optotech for distribution but there was no presentation made on it. The meeting vacillated between describing and debating implementations and models. At times it was very confusing. It is essential that the committee define a model, a syntax, and a glossary. This is going to be the main focus of the next meeting. Clint Ballard at Ballard Synergy has accepted the action to expand his material to incorporate many of the additional and complementary concepts which came up during the meeting. Rick Tewell is going to make a quick pass at an implementation of the concepts described to see if a demonstration of functionality can be made at the next meeting. The next meeting is going to be hosted by Western Digital at the Red Lion in Costa Mesa. It will be held on January 12, following the SCSI-2 Working Group. Please make reservations immediately if not before. The hotels fill up fast in that area and there is bound to be an early cutoff date (we do not know what it is yet - Bruce is still nailing down the final details). The primary task on January 12 is to define a model and a glossary of terms to lock us in on a syntax that will reduce confusion. Implementors who feel they can contribute to the effort are still welcome, but presentrations on implementations will be clearly identified as for information only, and be made after the model discussions. A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all. I. Dal Allan Chairman
